A New Take on Fairy Tales

The image shows two students sitting at a desk, working on something together in what appears to be a classroom setting with whiteboards and other classroom materials visible in the background.

Terrace fourth graders had a fun English assignment in which they could take a classic fairy tale and put their own spin on it.

The assignment was in conjunction with Children's Author Liesl Shurtliff's visit to the school.

Teacher Maria Djurjevic said the after the students wrote their "fractured fairy tales" they were recorded using their iPads.

Each student also created a book cover to accompany their fairy tale.

When finished, the students took a Gallery Walk to listen to and enjoy the fun stories written by their peers.
