Anthropomorphic Family Portraits

Anthropomorphic Family Portraits
Terrace

Terrace Elementary School fourth graders in Ms. Cassman's art class had a fun time creating anthropomorphic animal family portraits.

Ms. Cassman began the lesson by explaining what the term "anthropomorphic" means and then showing the students examples of animals drawn within a family portrait setting.

The students were given examples of different animals and how to draw them by creating a grid and making shapes one step at a time.

They were asked to draw at least two animals for their family portraits, but could draw as many as they wanted to.

Students created a wide variety of animals, ranging from penguins to dogs to bears to lions.

Ms. Cassman then went over some examples of how they could create clothing and accessories to make their animals even more realistic.

When the students were done with their family portraits, they moved their art to their final paper by coloring the back with a pencil and transferring it over.

They then spent time coloring their portraits in and making them come alive.
