Welcome Back, Lucy and Phoebe!

Welcome Back, Lucy and Phoebe!
Terrace

Lucy and Phoebe, two therapy dogs from Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy in Morton Grove, returned to visit the students at Terrace Elementary School!

All of the students were excited to see them again!

When the dogs first arrived, the students were able to go up to them one at a time to say hello and pet them.

Then the students dropped a dog treat in a Halloween bucket for the dogs, which of course made Lucy and Phoebe very happy.

The students then stacked up boxes with treats hidden in one of them.

Even though the dogs were afraid of the boxes, the students cheered them on and the dogs eventually had enough courage to knock the boxes over and claim their treats.

The students also had fun brushing Lucy and Phoebe and even fed them their favorite food, green beans.

At the end of the visit the students received a collector card with a picture of Lucy and Phoebe on the front of it with information about them on the back.

According to studies, animal assisted therapy (AAT) has been shown to increase confidence, encourage communication and increase socialization among peers.

All of the students loved having these furry friends pay them a visit!
