Fourth grade students at Terrace Elementary School learned about steadiness and balance in PE class this week.

After warming up by running a quick lap around the gym, the students put their mats and equipment in place.

Mr. Patenaude went over the learning objectives for the class, asking the students to help him define the words "steady" and "balance."

After listening to the great answers the students came up with, he had the class practice some warm up poses first.

For each of the warmups he had the students all try at the same time and they had to hold each pose for 10 seconds.

He explained that this may be hard now but the more they do it the easier it becomes because you build the muscles to do the poses.

Then they moved onto their first set of new poses.

One student from each of the groups would hold the pose that Mr. Patenaude put up on the screen and had to hold it for 10 seconds.

Then the other students in the group would try.

For each of the poses the students had two opportunities to try it out. They got harder as it went on.

By the end of the class they finished the set of starter poses and look forward to moving onto the harder set next week.
