Students Answer Thought-Provoking Questions in Mindfulness Club

Students at Terrace Elementary School have the opportunity to participate in the Mindfulness Club on Friday morning before school.

The club is facilitated by Social Worker Ms. Sophia Nudelman, and is a chance for students to answer thought-provoking questions and write their thoughts down in a journal.

The different grade levels rotate through the club every six weeks, with the third graders currently participating in the club.

The writing prompt for the week was "What was something you thought you couldn't do or would be hard to do? After trying it was it hard or impossible or were you able to do it?"

The students were given five minutes to write their answers in their journals and then had the opportunity to share what they wrote with their peers.

They then went into the hallway and looked at words of affirmation on the door.

They went back into the classroom and were given a worksheet that said "I Am" at the top with an outline of a person on it.

They were tasked with writing affirmative words on the sheet that they felt represented themselves and they drew details of themselves using the outline.

While working on this activity, Ms. Nudelman asked the students to write one word of affirmation about themselves on the white board.

When finished with the activity, students played board games together or built structures out of magnetic tiles.
