Crafting the Terrace Times
Terrace Elementary School fourth and fifth graders have the opportunity to work on their writing, drawing and communication skills every week in Newspaper Club.
The club is under the direction of Third Grade Teacher Ms. Megan Frintner and runs from September to May during the students' Friday lunch period.
The students all have their own roles, working together to build the published "Terrace Times" newspaper.
The "Terrace Times" comes out monthly and has three main sections: the staff interview corner, the specials corner and the grade level corner.
The students rotate assignments and have an opportunity to work on each of the different sections at some point.
Students also have the chance to create the art for the sections, drawing digitally on their iPads and crafting art on construction paper.
Recent articles students were working on included a story about a fifth grade field trip, what students were learning in PE class and an interview with Second Grade Teacher Ms. Schaefer.
One student was even crafting a crossword puzzle for the Terrace students to enjoy!
The students are having fun learning how to create a newspaper, developing not only their writing and drawing skills, but also their teamwork and communication skills!
