Third-grade students in Mr. Patenaude's class worked on their soccer defending and kicking skills while playing Soccer Pin Knockdown.

The students started class by running a few laps around the gym, then sat in their spots on the floor to begin stretching.

The stretching began with a quick game of "This One or That" in which Mr. Patenaude displayed two images of warm-up exercises on the screen, and the students chose which one they wanted to do.

After warm-ups, Mr. Patenaude explained how to play Soccer Pin Knockdown. Bowling pins were set up on each side of the gym, with cones placed a few feet in front of them.

Students had to stay behind the cones while defending their pins, while the opposing team kicked the balls to try to knock them down.

The goal was to see which side could knock down the most pins during the allotted time. Students were only allowed to kick the balls and had to guard the pins using only their feet.

Mr. Patenaude split the class into two teams and placed multiple balls in the middle of the gym. He then blew his whistle, and the students ran toward the balls to try to knock down a pin.

The students communicated with their teammates to block as many incoming balls as possible and protect their pins.

When the first round was over Mr. Patenaude blew his whistle and had the students sit back down in their spots. He counted the remaining pins on each side before starting the second round.

Using various techniques, the students continued trying to knock down the pins.

They worked with their classmates on strategies to protect their own pins while attempting to knock down as many as possible.

They had a great time practicing their soccer skills and are looking forward to playing a soccer game in a future class.
