Therapy Dog Visit
Terrace
Terrace Elementary students in the Structured Teaching Education Program (STEP) were recently treated to a visit from therapy dogs.
The dogs were a part of the organization Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy, based out of Morton Grove.
When the dogs first arrived the students put their hands out so the dogs could sniff them.
The students had fun playing a variety of games with the dogs, including a bowling game, a find it game and a game with cups.
According to studies, animal assisted therapy (AAT) has been shown to increase confidence, encourage communication and increase socialization among peers.
All of the students loved having these furry friends pay them a visit!
